You Will Be Dearly Missed

Al-Fatihah to Yasmin Ahmad, who had just passed away an hour ago.

I first got to know of her work back in 2005. Just before Sepet was shown in the cinema, Adli downloaded (oops) Yasmin's Rabun and we all (me and my former housemates) watched it together, intrigued by how much love that telemovie brought to life.

Then, we all came to know of her Sepet, and the rest is history. Numerous award-winning movies (Gubra, Mukhsin etc.), countless heart-wrenching commercials for Petronas (for your information, Petronas decided not to use Leo Burnett's service this year for Merdeka, the contract was granted to Paragon, an insider told me) and controversies after controversies surrounding her life and art.

Al-Fatihah again to Yasmin's family. You will be dearly miss, aunty Yasmin.

Ajar Aku Jadi Seekor Lembu

A friend of mine suggested that i turn this blog into a multi-lingual blog, because he thinks my Bahasa is entertaining (what the...). So, from now onwards, this blog will be a multi-lingual blog.

16 Mei lalu adalah Hari Guru peringkat kebangsaan. Guru. cikgu, teacher, lecturer, pensyarah, dan macam-macam lagi terma yang digunapakai untuk gelaran mereka yang memberi ilmu kepada kita, adalah insan yang cukup istimewa pada mata aku.

Macam-macam pe'el guru ni. Ada yang serius, ada yang kerja mengajar tanpa henti, ada yang tak reti langsung nak engage student, dan ada yang kerja nak marah je. Kenapa? Sebab mereka pun manusia macam kita semua juga.

Kepada semua cikgu-cikgu aku, formal atau tak formal, aku tabik spring. I'm here because of you guys.

Party With The Indonesians

My friend, Fareezan told me about it just now. I'm excited and surprised to see the lineup of the festival. The best of the best Indonesian bands are going to perform here next month.

Can't Buy Me Love, Let's Promote Altruism

This post has two different entries combined. 

Read between the lines.

I can now sadly says that i can feel the effect of the global economic recession. This month alone i'd spend all of my April's allowance, not to forget half of next month allowance.

How i wish people would be more understanding, and not dwelled one selves into egocentrism, perceiving people as they wish. To all those people, f**k you.

I can ask for money from my parents, but i try not to. It's not their responsibility anymore to provide me with petty money. But sometimes if the need arises, what am i to do?

Shit, now i sound like an egocentric myself. People in Somalia aren't half as lucky as i am, and still i complained? F**k me.

I still remember those days when life is all about getting yourself to school and mingle with people far more matured than the ones I'm around now.

I'm out of here. Ignore this post.

Kill Me Because I'm Hot

Yesterday (Sunday, April 19th), I got a text message around 3 p.m. from a friend, saying that there was a commotion at the overhead bridge connecting USJ 5 and USJ 4 (which is very near to my house). So, i went there and i saw an Indonesian girl on top of the bridge, attempting suicide.

The atmosphere around the bridge was carnival-like. Hundreds of people flocked the roadside, not to count the massive traffic jam the commotion made. There were several policeman around, and the fire brigade was there too.

In the end, the girl was saved by the fireman. Now I'm writing this piece not to talk about the event itself, but about what the girl was attempting to do, suicide.

What makes a person dumb enough to commit suicide? Let's leave religion out of this discussion shall we (yeah, it's an unforgettable sin, everyone knows that). But, what ticks it, the urge to kill yourself? I for sure will not have the guts to take away my life, not when there's a gazillion things i haven't tried yet in this world, not to forget "bekalan iman belum cukup". 

People will say it is because unstable emotions, psychological factors and many more. But for me, these people are just plain dumb. Why do you have to take away your life, when you can kill other people? Then, you'll probably be hang to death, but not before you become famous, with your face adoring the pages of newspapers and televisions.
